Plants that go well with verbena?

Any suggestions or recommendations for plants that go nicely with verbena? Ideally I'd like something perennials that I could buy now and will give me a decent display this year...If it's attractive to bees and butterflies, even better!! All thoughts welcomed :)

    In a bed, full sun - clay soil as is typical of Essex, but I have treated it very well with compost and top soil over the years so it's not toooo heavy!

    They grow quite wild here, pop up everywhere, I like to just leave them where they are and they look good with whatever is around them. They are tall so poke up above other plants.

    Grasses/Phormiums work well with them, but if you don't like those, some of the 'prairie planting' perennials are good. Heleniums, Asters etc. There are lots of those daisy flowered plants. 
    I have them at the back of borders [ if they make it through the winters, which they don't alwasy manage] and they work fine with lots of different styles of planting. I have mainly shrubs, grassses and things like lilies and clematis in the same beds as them. They're very adaptable   :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I had some 2yr old Bishops Children dahlia tubers that were deep orange and V.bon sprang up amongst them. The combination especially in the evening was iridescent 
    They were backed by equally tall pale pink cosmos which also went very well

    Thank you everyone, love the ideas! The Bishops Dahlias sound fab Pete - love the idea of that contrast in colour. I'm also a huge fan of white flowers so might add in the odd Aster here and there too. I love grasses but haven't ever had much luck with them in my garden for some reason. Thanks all for your suggestions.... I'll send pics later in the summer!
