Lavender

snowy43snowy43 Posts: 118
I bought a lavender plant last year and planted it in a pot. It looked very healthy, had lots of new growth, but no flowers. This year it also has lots of new growth, but again no sign of any buds. It’s in a sunny spot, so what am I doing wrong please?

Did you trim it back at all? Maybe at the wrong time and so inadvertently cutting off growth with future flowers?

Lavender is usually very good at flowering so thats all i can think of really.

Do you know what variety it is? Most English types dont bloom until june. I grow a few different types of lavenders and none of my English varities have bloomed yet
You also need to factor in the severe cold we have had. Most plants are several weeks behind where they would normally be it in mid may

My French lavender is flowering but my English lavender doesn’t do so til much later in the year, so fingers crossed for lots of blooms for you later in the summer 😀

It’s called Lavender Vera. Says it’s hardy. Hope it does flower later. Am trying to make a corner of plants with fragrance on the patio.

Mine has all the flower buds on it. Just need to get longer and then it will be in flower, june like Jason said.

Lavender Vera is an Augustifolia like mine so i would have expected it to have flower
Spikes on it by now. May be its just running late like the trains.  ;)
