If you want an evergreen, choose carefully - very few of those two are Both will need plenty of moisture to keep them healthy too. I'd go for a honeysuckle as it looks like you have a bit of dappled, woodland-y shade which is perfect for them. You could pick two different clematis [one each side] which would give you a longer flowering season. Many are much happier in a shadier aspect anyway. They aren't really scented as such, although montanas tend to have a vanilla scent. You'd only need one of those for an arch as they get very big! Take a look at Taylor's website, or Hawthorne or Thoncroft. All are reputable suppliers and will offer plenty of choice
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Love that area it’s beautiful . An arch would be nice ,see if you can get a rustic one inkeeping with that lovely bench. Or can someone make one from old wood that would look great with the bench.
Thinking of putting an arch over this seat for a flowering evergreen. I'm thinking a honeysuckle or clematis, any ideas please.
Wow! what a lovely spot to look in at..., but the real question is, what are you looking out to when you're sitting down?
I too would like to know what evergreen climber you are thinking of because I recently planted Lathyrus Red Pearl to climb my Pergola, which it is doing a great job at, but sadly have only found out that I'm meant to hack it down to its base at the end of the year

Someone mentioned climbing rose which I hadn't considered as i've never grown them but had a look online and fell in love with "Madame Alfred Carriere" its absolutely gorgeous. I'm unsure cos ive not had much luck with clematis, ive got Perle de Azure which grows up the tree behind the bench but last 2 years its been poor but it looks to have some healthy growth now.I also bought one from b&q last spring (cant remember name) which seems to have gone to sleep but I live in hope that one day....😊

I’m trying to get sweet pea to grow over one, no luck so far getting them to latch on.
Im trying grapevine for the other arches.
You'll need to tie in stems as they grow. Sweet peas want to grow straight up, or else entwine themselves onto whatever support is nearby, so you'll need to guide them in the direction you want them They do get a bit messy eventually, whatever you do though!

Just wanted to say that’s a beautiful space full of character. Looks lovely and romantic!
