Is this a type of grass?

this turned up in my garden, is it a type of grass and is it friend or foe, any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

    It looks like the dreaded Carex pendula [weeping sedge] which seeds everywhere. If you keep it - take those flower heads off, or you'll have it all over the place!
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
