I love spring bulbs and was very taken with Monty's clay pans of dwarf irises etc. I will be doing some of those this year. I tried triteleia for the first time in clay pans and they were very pretty. I normally go for the small narcissi in my garden and in pots. Some of my tulips come back a second year, some don't. May be the depth of planting but I don't know. I always add to the tulip displays every year as I love them.

Silver Chimes is one of my favourites - really pretty and scented.
Here's a few of mine from last year, a1154. Sorry - I've been at work and couldn't do them any earlier!
The orangy red ones are Fusilier, the pinky/purple ones are Persian Pearl

    These are Little Beauty

The ones which are opening yellow and have a pinky/orange outer stripe are Chrysantha. Can't remember what the big orange ones are I'm afraid. They've been lovely this spring

I also have Turkestanica which look like little fried eggs when opened   :)
This is the only pic I could find of them, and they hadn't grown fully

Hope that's of some help. I got these for a new, sunny border which is all bright, clashy colours :D

No probs a1154. The pinky/purply ones are rather nice - quite unusual. Most of the early ones tend to be oranges, reds  and yellows. I have some reddish purple crocus that appear just before them which works quite well. They'd also be good in a bed with the little reticulata irises, although those diminish after a couple of years.
They make good pot specimens too, especially in those tall 'lily' pots, where you can have them at a bit more height and can see them better.  :)
