Christmas Box

My Christmas Box looks like it’s passed it’s sale by date, it has suddenly started losing its leaves and going brown, can anyone solve the problem why this has happened!

Freddie’s Dad: it has been in the same place for the last 5 years, it flowered lovely in the winter and looked healthy, this has happened over the last 3 weeks. Is it to late to feed it ? Can the damage be undone? What feed should I give it?
  • I have had the same problem. Tends to happen after flowering also a yellowing of leaves. I’ve tried an iron feed and magnesium. I thought it might be dry shade or too much sun but wondering if it is wind? One plant snug in the corner is doing well and it’s the same soil and aspect? They still flower but are not a show of busy green foliage. When I have gapped up with a new plant, these start off glossy green and then gradually succumb to the same yellowing. At present trying seaweed feed with iron. Not much help, I know but will keep on trying as the scent is so nice.

Mine get a dose of seaweed feed which seems to do the trick, but if yours are in a "wind tunnel" that may well put them under stress.
My neighbour planted 3 very close together, 2 were fine but the other turned yellow and looked very sick in spite of everything he tried. That's gardening!

  • Thanks AnniD, good to know that they respond to seaweed feed. I will keep going with that little and often and see how it goes.
