Anyone know what these bugs are?

was digging in the soil and found these two beetles??? Any ideas what they are-they were alive but looked fairly sleepy

Cock chafers also known as maybugs.

Cockchafer beetles, I think.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

The may bugs mob me, but apparently these beetles are harmless.

They're great! And harmless. There's one headbutting my window now, trying to get in. I look forward to seeing them each year
