Yes, second one is an evening primrose and one of the more refined (cultivated) types I think, possibly Oenothera versicolor "Apricot delight' or 'Lemon sunset'. It will self-seed in a well-mannered way, unlike the common O. biennis which can be invasive.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
I did wonder about acanthus. I've still got shoots coming up from where I removed one years ago. Even the tiny first leaves are a very dark green and the edges a lot more spikey. I'm sure I've seen it before, but I just can't remember....

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
The plant was sown last year from a mixed pack of border perennial seeds like the other plant.
It didn't grow much last year and was the size of a side plate and about as high as one. The foliage didnt die over winter. Then this spring it's come to life and about 3 foot high.
I'm pretty sure I had one appear in my garden almost on the lawn years ago and like you I let it grow. It's the little red buds I recognised. I can't remember much more, so I'm guessing the flowers were insignificant and it turned out to be a big weed (in my opinion) of some sort. Hopefully yours isn't
