    Thanks for that Dove,there's one in my garden and I didn't have a clue what it was called.Is very thick and had probably been neglected like everything else here! Will it be best to try and cut out some of the old growth?( It's like a thick forest at the bottom) or dig it up but take cuttings?

    I'd prune out about a third of the growth from the base, removing the oldest growth and crossing branches etc. 
    i would also take cuttings ... I can't resist taking cuttings, especially layering long shoots ... so easy  :)

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    Thank you so much Dove,I had a feeling you'd say something like that! I think it's going to be quite a job to get in amongst it! Before the greenery arrived I thought I'd dig it up,then one or two little yellow flowers came and I changed my mind!
    I will do some cuttings first.
