  but there are other plants with furry leaves like that ... you may need to wait until it flowers to get a firm ID

  I agree with you hostafan, my stachys looked just the same when they first came up. I love them but they do seed around a lot.

  You may well be right Hosta ... I thought Lychnis was a possibility as that also seeds around a lot.

  Well thank you all for the input and the identification! I will be digging these out then as they have found themselves all over the front garden
