Cutting back Conifers

Hi there,

I was wondering if i could get some help regarding a row of conifers i have at the bottom of my garden.

there is a row of about 6 conifers all about the same height as my house.
as this it taking away all the sunlight from my garden and my neighbours, I'd like to take about 3-4 meters off the top?

is that possible to do without killing the tree?

If they're the usual Leylandii type, yes it's perfectly possible and very neighbourly and public spirited of you.

You can reduce the height as you say and your trees will be fine  ... just don't trim the sides back into brown wood as it will not produce more green leaves from brown wood.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
