Daffodil bulbs

I have just dug up a border in preparation for replanting. I have dug up hundreds of daffodil and snowdrop bulbs, cleaned them all and separated them. Being a novice gardener, I don’t know how to preserve them for replanting out next autumn? Any advice would be helpful.

    Spring flowering bulbs are best left undisturbed for six weeks after the flowers have faded.  This gives time for the leaves to make food which is stored in the bulb ready for the following year's growth.  So your snowdrops should be OK but you've been a bit quick off the mark for the daffodils.  Never mind, if you have somewhere cool and dry to store them, they'll probably be OK.  You just won't get such a good display of flowers as you would have had if you'd given them a bit more time.  Pack them in something breathable for storage, otherwise they're likely to rot.  Cardboard boxes will do.  Check them now and then because it only needs one to get mouldy and it will spread to the rest.

    Don't store them.  Re-plant where you want them to be and then mark each group with a stick and then put other plants on top.   They'll do much better in the ground than stored.
