Nettle tea?

Hi all just after a bit of advice. There is an area on my new allotment  that is full of nettles. I am clearing it slowly but was wondering if I could make Nettle tea? Anyone know how this is done? Also does anyone know if the tea can be used on my fruit and veg any advice gratefully received thanks

    Roughly chop the nettles, put them in a bucket, cover them with water and leave to 'steep' for a couple of weeks. I advise a cover of some kind as it smells quite bad. Then yes, you can use it as plant food. It will be quite high in nitrogen so good for leafy plants and veg. You need a bit more potassium for fruit and flowers (comfrey 'tea' or a seaweed based food instead). But it'll be great for brassicas or your lawn

    Thanks that's what I have done with a stout stick in the bucket in case of wildlife falling in but it seemed a bit too easy!

    I have just made some and it stinks like hell  :) the smell can be quite persistent on your hands so better wear some gloves when you use it  ;)
