grass germination

Morning all - any help greatly appreciated re my sprouting lawn - over seeded a few weeks ago and pleased to say things are finally happening!  I'm wondering about the next step - have read in various places that in order to promote tillers, I should roll, or walk over, the grass while it's still young.  At what point should I do this?  If anyone could shed light on this I'd be very grateful.  Best wishes. Steve

Don't walk on new grass until it's grown enough for it's first cut.

Thanks for the tip glasgowdan - trouble is the old grass is already getting long, and the seedlings are still small - only an inch or so - so when should I cut it?

The old grass will be fine for another couple weeks surely. Then cut on a nice high setting, or just strim the tops off
