Damson with no leaves

I moved in to a house last year and there is an old fruit tree - we think it’s a damson tree. Lots of fruit last year but in need of some tlc. Pruned a little when it was dormant, thinking I would take a few years to get rid of all of the crossing internal branches. This year it has not blossomed and has no leaves. Our neighbours say they haven’t seen it do that in over 30 years. I don’t know if it’s dead or winter just hit it hard (lots of late snow) ☹️
Any advice welcomed - thanks.

It's been an odd year weatherwise so I'd give it a bit longer, although you should have seen blossom by now, I would think.  You pruned it at the wrong time really - the plum family shouldn't be winter pruned as that can let in a disease called Silver leaf.  I doubt that could kill a tree in such a short time though so there's something else going on here.

It is quite possible the tree has met its natural demise. A tree that old has had a good run for it, especially if it carried good crops of fruit every year. Give it time, the weather may have hit it hard.
