when peat was bought by the bale!

I came to Gloucester in  1991 when Irish Moss Peat was freely available. I bought some Azaleas with me, created a raised bed full of peat and you can see what they are like now!

What is the best thing to add to rejuvenate the peat as I want to fill in some of the gaps and ensure these 2 still continue as beautifully as they are

    Peat is pretty hard to avoid these days. All multi-purpose composts are 70 - 100% peat unless clearly stated in the name of the blend.

    You can still buy peat from most garden centres.

    I remember the days of the massive peat bales, and unloading and stacking them when I worked in a Nursery back in the 70's.  During one epic operation unloading a massive lorryload, one of our guys fell down a gap in the stack and we had to take part of it down to get him back out!
