This has sprung up really strongly between the pinky-leaved Pieris 'Forest Flame' and Bumblebee lily.

Thought at first it might be Feverfew but neighbour says stems are too juicy-like - like celery! (Although it's not celery).  When squeezed leaves smell beautifully and strongly of a lemony or almost celery type smell.

Can anyone identify?  Thank you.  It's currently just over a foot tall.

  • It does look like Feverfew to me too. It does have a distinctive smell

My first thought was feverfew. I'll have to go and test the 'juiciness' of the stems of mine......

The stems in top picture look more like an umbellifer,
  • What about Sweet Ceicilly. Don't think it's Lovage as the leaves are too lime green and more dissected than Lovage.

Lovage is a great plant, but that's not one - as Tessa says, lovage new leaves are a darker, more reddish green.
Sweet cicely leaves are very soft and ferny with white splodges along the central stem and a very distinctly aniseed flavour. You wouldn't mistake it for celery.

I just had a look at my feverfew and has the same ridged, celery-type stems.

ooh thanks Fire.  Looks the same to me.  Here's an update - buds 30th May if it might help a final confirmation.

They look like mine. I so love feverfew. Easy to propagate. You'll know for sure in a few days when the lovely flowers open.
