plant id please!

Picture 1 I am not sure I planted myself but I did plant a job lot of bulbs so maybe I did.

Picture 2 is a plant that crawled through from my neighbours fence which she has since moved but my bit survived. It has also dropped hundreds of seedlings directly in front of it so lots of new plants to give away.

picture three I suspect is a Rhododendron?

picture 4 I bought for 50p from a garden centre without a label.

Any help much appreciated!

The 3rd pic could be a rhodo - I have Arctic Tern which looks very similar and just coming into flower

I have just bought a stunning Rhododendron so was hoping this was another but very happy with Azalea as I also love these.

Thank you for your replies, this is such a helpful forum :)

Botanically speaking azaleas are rhododendrons, they're just a subgroup. I've no great experience of them (got them for the very first time in our new garden), but I think mostly they tend to be smaller, but doubtless there are small non-azalean rhododendrons! And, I think, some azaleas are deciduous whereas all other rhododendrons are evergreen.

Personally I would have an entire garden only filled with Azaleas, they are stunning!

They are when in flower - but maybe you'd have to work hard to keep things looking good all year round (the mark of a good gardener I'm told is to have something in flower every day of the year)! So do allow a few other things in :)

I have spent so much money since getting bitten by the bug! I buy a plant a day most days, I am terrible but it is just so exciting seeing beautiful things grow. I now have two greenhouses in the back garden filled with seedlings. I had no clue how many seeds to plant being a first time gardener this year so have ended up with about 100 Zinnias and the same of Cosmos and other flowers, barmy but so much fun!

    I have to profoundly disagree.
There's a lot more to a good garden, and a good gardener than just flowers.
