millions and millions and millions of other folk will be going ( it certainly seemed that way every time I've been )Â Have a lovely time , but brace yourself for crowds.
I can't manage the crowds from the comfort of my own couch.. I couldn't imagine actually being there. Â People frustrate me to no end.. and large crowds leave me seething. Â I would love to see everything though.
Don't buy anything until the very end.. don't be that person lugging around a 5ft tall clematis on canes all day. Â
Take your own food and drink - there's usually long queues and wear something you can sit on the grass in. Have fun -you'll always remember your first visit.
Members' days have a very different atmosphere from the public days in my experience. If you have a full day ticket get there early - open from 8:30 - so you can see the main gardens and the artisan gardens before the crowds build up but, generally, people are very good about doing the shuffle so those at the back get to the front to see and take pics.  I've had some nice chats with strangers from all over the world.
Take time to do the flower marquee thoroughly as there are so many good nurserymen and women there who are happy to chat about how to grow their treasures, take orders for later delivery, provide catalogues etc and some sell seeds and bulbs on the spot.  Plan to see everything before 3:30 which is when the half day tickets get in and it does feel crowded.
Wear comfortable layers, comfortable shoes and a back pack in which you have a bottle of water, a sandwich and a plastic bin bag to sit on as seats go quickly.  Queues for drinks and food are long and prices steep.  Take sunscreen unless rain is forecast.
Make sure your camera is fully charged and the memory chip is empty so you can take loads of pics. Take cash for buying sundries and seeds and such. Â
I went for the first time last year and had a lovely time. Agree about taking food and drink if you can as the queues are horrendous. No-one was selling any plants last year but you can buy seeds and order plants and bulbs. I'd agree with looking at show gardens first before they get too busy. Hope you have a good time.

Enjoy.
And follow Obelixx's advice, it's spot on (especially about a bag to sit on).
