Plant ID evergreen shrub with red flowers

Does anyone know what this shrub in a pot might be. It's not my own but I like that it's evergreen and has what looks like little red flowers just starting to appear. Anyone have any ideas? Sorry about the poor quality of the photo, its not in an easy position to get a good pic.

    perhaps a very nutrient starved camellia?

    Ah yes you could be right. Probably a fairly old plant as it's quite big. I wish my Camelia would grow bigger. It just flops about and gets wider rather than taller!
