Training Wisteria

Please can anyone provide any advice? We've had our wisteria planted for around 4 years now and every year we get new shoots but they always seem to get damaged by the wind or Sun so it doesn't seem to get any bigger. Any advice?

Unless you're growing it as a standard they need to be tied into a framework of tensioned wires or trellis so they can mature without being torn about in strong winds.  You need to feed it every spring and make sure it doesn't go thirsty in summer and early autumn when next year's flower buds are forming.   This info from the RHS may help you - https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?pid=173 and this with info on pruning and training.
