For the original Qs, you can steep the runinant organic nutrient source. In rain tap water. As tap water is usually hard (Calcium carbonate). It helps to bring up the steep liquor Ph. The steep liquor can then be diluted, to an Ec strength of Ec 1.2 to 1.6 mS/cm/Ltr1.
Ec, Electro conductivity, a measure of salts in water. Deploying a low cost "Ec Pen" No chance of burning the lawn with nitrogen then. Apply with power rose or watering can rose if smaller area is involved.
Ruminant steep water is a very concentrated nutrient source, just needs steeping for 5-10 days, at 19c minimum. This helps stabilizing the solution, (oxidizing), and diluting to feed strength. Not suitable as a flower feed, as NPK is Nitrogen biased, P & K are present also. As well as a bacterial flora....... all good for spring lawn culture, and feeding. Hope that helps out, with the original Qs, many thanks Nigel
I buy weed and feed from Home Bargains and apply it by hand in Spring. If it doesn't rain within three days (unlikely here) I get the hose out. I use a Hover-mower, and all seems fine. Nice and green and weed free and a lovely breather space area in the garden.
Using a fork to aerate, and a rake to thatch in Spring works for my lawn.
Lawns on forums seem to me to be more complicated than they need to be, like Chillies 🤤
