Update: they are not lacewing larvae!

i watched a video on YouTube and they move differently.

this bug moves like a caterpillar, it has a suction on its butt it sticks to the leaves then the whole body lifts off the leaf and feels around like a tentacle nose thing in a really freaky searching way then when it finds an aphid it kills it.

so at least I know they are good but they don’t have legs like the lacewing to crawl

    Found it!!!

its a syrphid larvae which would explain the wierd head motions as they have nondescript heads and no eyes but are one of the largest aphid killers and the adults pollinate flowers.look them up they are interesting

Fascinating.. ”Adults are not predaceous, but the larvae prey on aphids, scale insects and thrips. Syrphid fly larvae may quickly suppress aphid infestations, as each is capable of destroying hundreds of aphids during its development.”.

    I am amazed!
Go out this morning and all my rose bushes are devoid of aphid. Every one of them has one from the bugs and leaves. Those litle things do an amazing job. Move over Ladybirds!!!

I almost missed this. Really interesting, thanks for updating us. B)
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Interesting, never seen one down our way, my roses could do with some of them. Keep rubbing aphids off it's messy though, warm water and little fairy liquid normally works for me. Could you box a few up please and post 😉
