Garage brick wall

Hi I wonder if you can help?  We have a huge boring garage wall in our garden that is always in the shade & am unsure how to camouflage it?  I thought of growing Boston Ivy in a pot up it, do you think that would work?  We’d be really grateful for any suggestions.  I don’t really want to paint the wall if I’m honest.  Oh & I must tell you I’m a novice at gardening lol.  Thank you 😊

You would have to screw wires to the wall for any climbers and Boston ivy is a bit of a thug. You could try the self clinging climbing Hydrangea - evergreen, likes shade, white flowers but I would be inclined to plant it in soil where the paving meets the grass as much better for the plant. Then buy another evergreen shrub to go in the pot for contrast.

Thank you for replying.  Hmmm that’s given me something to think about.  Thanks again xx

Do a living wall with ferns and other shade loving plants. Or maybe grab some spray cans and unleash your inner Banksy ;)
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

There is a thread about vertical gardening https://forum.gardenersworld.com/discussion/1012144/home-made-vertical-gardening-methods/p1

Hope it gives you some inspiration.

I trained a Pyracantha all over our boring garage wall, that was a lot of shade,as it was in the shadow of the house.I really made it do what I wanted,I snipped off any growth that poked outwards, tied it all in as close to the wall as poss.It looked lovely, loads of bright orangy/red berries, which the birds liked.
