    I have had several orders from Alstromeria Select over a number of years but the quality is no longer as good as it used to be.  My order of 10 Alstroemeria @ £9 each arrived last Thursday.  All 10 were absolutely bone dry.  7 were just about acceptable but not as good as previous orders.  However - the quality & size of 3 of them was unacceptable given the price.  One was a single stem just over 1 inch high with a few leaves.  I took photographs & emailed Alstroemeria Select within an hour of receipt asking for collection and replacement of the 3 plants.  It took 2 further emails to get a response.
    Apologetic but said no point in replacing as all their remaining ones were that size but they would refund if I returned them.
    I asked them to email me a postage paid reply label but got a refusal and a link to their returns policy - buyer pays return postage in all circumstances which means they can send inferior plants yet the buyer foots the bill and has all the work involved in sending them back!!  
    I had a similar problem with a previous order where one plant consisted of a single leaf in the corner of the pot.  They accepted the photo and refunded without return.  That plant did not survive and I doubt at least 2 of these 3 will which means I have lost £18.  

    There is no way I will ever order from this company again.

    I ordered 3 Alstromeria £29 from Alstromeria Select on 23rd April. I did this because Gardeners World Magazine has asked us to support growers who could not display at Chelsea Flower Show this year.  When they arrived 3 weeks later, 2 were poor stunted dried up little things and the other a 9 inch etiolated stem with a flower on top.  I have written to complain.  I am appalled at this lack of customer care and cannot imagine how they can exhibit somewhere like Chelsea and Gardeners World ought not to recommend them.
  • I’ve just come across this thread as I’m also awaiting an order placed nearly a month ago with Alstroemeria Select. Reading this, I wish I hadn’t bothered! 😥 C7Walsh, just wanted to say that if you’ve received defective goods, it’s illegal under UK consumer laws for the firm to demand that you pay the return postage - they have to do this. Up to you whether you think it’s worth chasing them, but if this is what they’re demanding (whether it’s in their so-called terms and conditions or not) then it’s another sign of how poor their operation is, I’m afraid.

    I also placed an order back in April for 5 plants, eventually received 3 plants, of which only one could to be considered to be of acceptable condition. I still have not received the balance of my order despite several emails from me, none of which received any reply from Alstroemeria Select.

    Its obviously one to avoid, only wish i had seen this thread before I placed my order !

  • Hi folks "alstroemeriaselect" used to be our website. We passed it on to Primrose Hall nursery in 2017. We were concerned,at that point, that after some 40yrs trading at flower shows up and down the country, and gaining an exemplary record for business from our many customers over that time, that another company would be benifitting, and trading on, the reputation that we (Philip Tivey and son) had built up. It would seem that our worse fears have been realised. For this reason we did not pass on our trading name. I would consider contacting the RHS if you continue to have problems.
  • I am very exasperated with Alstromeria Select and their lack of customer service. I placed an order in March of this year and then cancelled it in June as I still had not received my plants.I have left voicemails…no one calls back, I have contacted them using their online form…no one replied, I have emailed numerous times and I am still waiting on a refund. Worst customer service I have had in a long long time. Do NOT buy form this company unless you want never ending grief or have money to waste. Just not worth the effort.
