Will Star Jasmine survive in Scotland

Hi, I would like to have 2 start jasmines growing at the front of my house round the door.   Question is will they survive a Scottish winter?  Don't want to waste my money.

Appreciate any views before I buy.

Many thanks, Dianne

Ah thanks.  Don't suppose you could suggest a good alternative?

Lots of clematis to choose from Dianne.  :)
Many of us here like to browse Taylor's Clematis website. There's also Thorncroft and Hawthorne who all sell clematis online. All reputable suppliers   :)
Are you intending having them in the ground though? Tricky to grow decent sized climbers if they're in containers. The containers need to be really big for it to be successful.

The jasmines are too soft for here usually. Certainly in the west, wet cold soil just finishes them off, even if the temps don't! I reckon you'd need a very sheltered urban garden for them, to make it worth investing the time and money.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Hi, Today, 4 years after planting a star jasmine in our front garden, in front of an east facing hedge, I discovered jasmine flowers!!!  I was absolutely thrilled! thought it had died 3 years ago.  We live in the village of Daviot, Aberdeenshire, North East Scotland. So yes, it can grow. Good luck and much patience to you😊👍
