Vine weevils

Went into conservatory this morning, found a vine weevil sitting on the door handle, Hubby found another one lower down the door, checked outside found one sitting on a pot containing an indoor azeala, had a look on specialist site, says they dont come out in the day, (really, obviously no-one told THEM that) no sinn of leaves chewed on the plant, some chewed leaves on a cherry tree in a pot, what do we do next?   HELP!!!

    You are in for a long job. I hate vine weevil! The beetle lay their eggs in the roots of potted plants and it is the grub that quietly eats the roots until the plant suddenly collapses. The beetle takes semi circular bites from the edges of the leaves of plants, one of their favourite egg laying places is fuschias although I had some begonia corms stored and found one totally riddled with grubs. The only way to sort of control them is persistent and regular treating with Provado Vine Weevil solution, other brands available. I make up a bucket full of solution and soak my pots for 48hrs., drain and repeat every 6 weeks. Hunting during the evening, early morning helps reduce the number of adults.

    Provado Vine Weevil killer isn’t the only way.
    the nematodes work really well, I have used them.

    You can also buy Vine weevil traps that catch the adult weevils,  I would use them with the nematodes that Lyn mentioned above and hopefully you can eradicate them sooner.
    Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.
