Pears take a while to grow mature enough to produce blossom and fruit. My guess is , depending on which rootstock it's on, you'll get blossom in the next couple of years.

Blossom appears in the spring before the leaves open.

Talking of pear trees, has anyone successfully grown them on acid soil.

I'm in Lancaster, Lancashire and have a conference pear, I'm growing it as a fan. Not many flowers last yr, some blossom this year.

     Thanks for that Dove.

I thought I lost blossom to a late frost last yr as two cherries were plorific in blossom at the same and the blossom seemed to drop off over a couple of days and no cherry harvest.

I have a pear tree which is at least 7 years old and has only just produced its first flowers. No idea if I will have any fruit, time will tell.

I think we are beguiled by labels showing fruit trees with prolific crops but are not warned that fruit trees need to be mature to produce fruit, and that can take several years.
