Clematis 'Marjorie'

hogweedhogweed Posts: 4,053
Has anyone got clematis 'Marjorie' and has it sprung into leaf yet? Mine looks decidedly dead. Was in the garden when I arrived so 20+ years old. Not a hint of green on it yet. Am panicking slightly as although I have taken lots of cuttings of it in the past I have given them all away.

I have a 'Marjorie' hogweed and like all of my Clematis montanas the leaves have barely unfurled. Whether the shocking Spring has anything to do with it, I don't know. It seems lots of things are about a month behind in growth.

That's good to know. I will definitely take some cuttings for me this year! If it appears.

Mine is in bud but not in flower yet. The similar one along the road from mine, in a sunnier position usually flowers before mine, but that isn't open yet either. I still have daffodils newly opened up.

Mine is in leaf now. I am in southwest England, where it's pretty mild. In the winter I actually moved this clematis, which is a couple of years old, to a new site with more space and light around it, and it's responding well. It's been a bit feeble in the past, but I am putting a lot of faith in it because it shares my name (even the spelling!).

My Marjorie is usually vigorous but most of it is totally dead this spring. OH went to cut of the dead and found two live shoots, but he broke one of them.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
