Plant ID if it's possible?

I don't have a photo but can anyone suggest the name of a plant I saw growing yesterday. Similar to arum in stem and leaf, shady spot, just foliage (no flowers), about 8inches high, one leaf on the end of a stem but the leaf was 3 lobed a bit like two smaller 'ears' and a larger central leaf.  I've tried google but closest I can find is Syngonium podophyllum but that seems to be a climber?  This was a little cluster of short stems that apparently disappear and simply return each year having spread a bit.  No-one in the garden knew what they were just that they've never flowered, always just the leaves.  I just thought it was worth asking the experts on here in case anyone had any suggestions?  Many thanks

    Could it be Trillium

That was my initial thought Loraine but when I looked them up the leaves are evenly sized.  These plants looked like two smaller leaves like ears and a central leaflet that was about three times as big.  Really like the S. podophyllum.  Unless you know of a Trillium with leaves like that?

Hi Silver surfer.  Jack-in-the-pulpit looks very similar.  The plant was down here in the South of England, in shade.  I'm going to try to get a photo, it's bugging me now.  But I have to say it did look like the images I'm finding on google for Ariseama triphyllum.  The leaf arrangement is very similar but I don't remember them being so heavily veined.  Many thanks though for the suggestion.
