Has your garden ever suffered from vandalism?

Hi all,
I am keen to hear if others have had experience of vandalism on their front gardens.
Yesterday i came back from the park to find that someone had gone inside my front garden, pulled up my tulips, ripped them to shreds and scattered the remains all over the pavement a few doors down. It was at school finishing time and I live near a notorious estate so i presume it must be kids.
Now i wonder if thats also the reason my first set of magnolia blooms also seemed to dissappear overnight.
I'll be watching to see what happens when my paeonies bloom.
Has anyone else had similar experiences?

I live in a small village. Regularly I get the heads pulled off my tulips, stuff thrown at door and windows, poo, with or without bags left at my path or thrown into the garden, outside Christmas tree knocked over and lights broken (every year!), steel garage door dented beyond hope..........need I go on?

So very sorry for both of you. GB, are you sure it wasn't foxes? They love to play and make a hell of a mess. Do you have foxes?

Hogweed, why would people be so vile?

Have you thought of installing CCTV cameras? Not expensive these days but effective and can reduce insurance bills and give you proof of guilt for police to find the culprits.

CCTV evidience can be used in court if the image is clear enough, but sometimes just a dummy camera may deter them.
thats a terrible thing to do, and of course these days you can’t do anything about it yourself.
I remember back in early 70’s secondary school kids would walk along our road and scratch every car, break wing mirrors etc, I waited one day behind the hedge and one of the gang came through on her own, I set about her and frightened her so much they took a different route home from then on, these days I would be put inside for telling off the little darlings.

I only ever had a small stone bird pinched off the bird bath when I didn't respond to trick or treaters knocking, but got bottles, cans and sweet wrappers chucked over the hedge all the time.

The only person who's ever vandalised my garden is me. At least that's what it feels like some days!

Do cats count? They seem to be the biggest vandals in my front garden.

We do get a bit of litter from passing school kids and the odd dog poo bag discretely dropped in the bushes (if I ever catch who does that... >:) ). Local kids have taken to stealing recycling bins now to take up the woods to burn but I've put a bike lock around mine since catching some of them loitering outside. Otherwise it's a joy living here compared to my old house in Cardiff. The metal street lamp post in front of the drive got torn down, brick walls were smashed apart, trees set on fire, all kinds of youthful highjinks.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I get owners who let their dogs crap on my path, outside my front door. I count that as vandalism. My nothing like as bad as Hogweed or GB. I under-plant the trees on my street. I am daring any b***rd to touch the flowers. Three years in and there has been no damage. I don't think anyone local would risk it.
