What is this grass-like plant which has appeared in my garden?

Hello, I'm new to the forum and hoping some one can help me identify a rogue plant that has popped up at the front of two of my borders. If they are “proper” plants they have regrown from the previous owners’ garden (which we overhauled when we moved in). Last year i thought these were pretty grasses but now they are getting big and messy i am inclined to dig and dump. Any ideas please?

carex  pendula. If you let it seed, it goes everywhere. I'm still digging up seedlings 6 years after moving here and removing all the mummy plants

Carex pendula ... attractive to start with but very invasive by seed and runners and difficult to dig out when it takes hold. I'd try to get rid of it as soon as you can unless you have a very large garden.
