Blueberries leaf turning red and starting to curl.

These are my 3x blueberries bluecrop. I have fertilized them before with chicken manure and some form of seaweed liquid fertilzer. I have just started noticing that the leafs are starting to curl and some of  the leafs are also red. The colour has always been like this from when they sprouted and I just thought they’re normal?
Can someone please tell me what’s wrong with my blueberries I’m particularly worries about the leafs curling and the leaf is red? Would really appreciate any reply and help. Thanks so much 🙏

It may just be a reaction to an unusually cold season and late spring.  However, it could also be the way you're growing them.  They need an acid soil and should be watered with rainwater and given regular feeds for ericaceous plants.

Have a look at the infor here on how to grow them well and see if there's anything you need to change about where they're planted and what you're feeding them - https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/grow-your-own/fruit/blueberries

Are they in containers? Sometimes if we have a lot of rain people don't realise that many containerised plants still need watering ... relying on the rain isn't enough.

  • How did your plants do ? I fertilised mines yesterday ,and the leaves have turned out the same as yours in this pic .
  • Have you tried lowering your soil ph with sulphur ? An ideal ph level is 4.5-5.5

Mine always had reddish leaves in the spring. I watered them with rainwater and they were in ericaceous compost. I think that's what they do and it's nothing to worry about. I gave mine to a friend when I moved house, I had three.
