Which season is it?!

I know it’s that time of year, but...  Today, we’ve had torrential rain, strong winds and fantastic sunshine. We live in Berkshire, but the wind still has that tinge of winter. It would be great to get the potted rose and bedding plants in this weekend, but which season is it?!   ;)

The Edge of summer on Sunday for you, perhaps...

ChrisWM.  You need to put the precise time in the question if we are going to be able to answer that one. :D
The weather is crazy at the moment.  We had 3 belts of very heavy rain yesterday with a marked dip in temperature, with bright sunshine in between.  Forecast is looking better, but I never trust the forecast anyway.

Yesterday was November ... today is May ... wonder what tomorrow will bring?

Roses can go out in the winter providing the ground isn’t frozen solid. It should be out.
my bedding plants go out at the end of May into first 2 weeks in June.

Mine go out from mid May and I'm in SW France where it is usually warmer. But we can still have frosts in May. We had one last year which killed my baby cherries and new leaves on trees.

Do you have May trees (Hawthorn) in France Lizzie, if so is the blossom out yet, with you being that bit warmer.

We do, but some years ago there was a disease that killed a lot of them. I don't have any near my house so I can't answer your question. The cherry blossom and apple blossom are over now. Weigela, lilac and choisya are out. Exochorda is over.

Right now it's May but it feels like March but the nice bit of March that feels like May but isn't. The plants are still firmly stuck in the belief that it's early April apart from some that seem convinced it's June but the bad bits of June that feel like early May.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Thanks, Lyn. I’m retiring in a week so refocusing on gardening after decades of hectic jobs. Tips like yours are invaluable, as I’m trying to figure out when to plant. Difficult in May, eh?!
