Cherry blossoms disappearing

Hello all,
im new to the forum and admittedly not a very good gardener!  We have a small cherry tree in our garden...about 10 years old. Each year it blooms beautifully but as were not out in the garden nearly often enough we often loose most of the cherries to the birds!
This year, we have made efforts to get the garden up together so I've been out despite the weather keeping an eye on things.
i noticed that my cherry blossoms are disappearing and remembered that it happened last year too. The whole blossom goes, not just the petals...as if it's been nipped off and eaten. But by what? Please help!

Most likely birds.  You could try some silver tape bird-scare stuff hung around the branches.  It's a bit of an eye-sore though.

Pigeons ... they love them  :/

They'll eat the leaves too ... I used to sit at my desk at work and watch a pair of woodpigeons work their way over the big flowering cherries in the grounds, eating the blossom and when the blossom was over they'd eat the leaves.

🙄 So much for feeding the birds! Clearly the sunflower seeds and mealworms were not enough. Thank you for you replies.
  • Do birds eat all blossom or just cherry?

Bullfinches love apple blossom. Or ours do.
