Picolino Cucumber in greenhouse
in Fruit & veg
Hi, I am growing cucumbers in my new greenhouse for 1st time. I am confused as to whether I need to remove male flowers or hand pollinate and do I nip out the top at some point or pinch out side shoots?

I grew my 1st cue in my new g/h last year - 1 plant and I got so many. I harvested 12 on 1 day and there were 1 or 2 ready every day
I pinched out the side shoots at about 6"
The problem I did have was the plant was so heavy with cue's it slid down its support, the main stem got crushed and it wasn't so good then..
This year I'm going to hang a short width of clematis support from the eaves so it's got something to curl its tendrils around
Good luck

I've read that ordinary miracle-gro is the best fertilizer for cue's and that's what I used last year - once a week. I give everything a good drench of seaweed extract every 10 days too and apart from my disaster in late July got masses of cue's. They appear overnight.
I grew it in a 22L pot with mpc/JI3 and a little well rotted manure. Even in a big pot it often needed daily watering on warm sunny days
