I think conventional mowers are good because they have more power. Actually there was a time when i tired to move from conventional mower to electric mower because the conventional mower need costly repairing. Then one of my friend suggested my to keep the Repair Manual of my mower. After that i used to repair my mower all by myself and i also have changed my mind of purchasing new electric mower.
Ryobi has a 75AH battery powered rear engine riding mower. My brother has one and he cuts 2 good size yards before having to recharge the battery in 2 hours. According to this review it's actually faster than my Craftsman gas riding mower.
I have a Qualcast £199 from Homebase, I find it OK, the battery last's me about 3/4 hour, which is enough for my grass, the 'against' being, it does not like wet or long grass, otherwise, I love it, so easy to use, no plugging in, no cable laying around,
but feel the more you pay the better the mower 'might' be.
