Open Day at the allotment

Hi, got a meeting at allotment  today to discuss opening it up to the public one day in the summer. It's my first year at the allotment so very inexperienced, does anyone have any advice on ensuring the day goes well?

    I used to have an allotment on a site next to where there was a monthly food market. As a result, the gates to the plot tended to stay open as people popped in an out for coffee and pies. So it turned into an informal open day. I remember finding one woman wandering between the plots with a shopping basket. “ so, you just help yourself to whatever you like, is that how it works ?”
