I like the Phormium Dove mentioned, what colour is the rose? I agree, the pot is too small for it. If you are going to stick to the 3 original pots, I would go for 3 shrubs of the same colour, you could get away with a lovelly variagated acer, if the site is not too sunny or exposed. I wouldnt plant in the shingle, no, keep the pots, group them together, and as other folk have said odd numbers.
So sorry. I’ve had real trouble logging in to the forum!! I’ve read through everyone’s replies and I’m going to get a third blue/green glazed pot, large, low and wide. I’m going to get a variegated pittosporum to go with the other beds in the front. I can’t put a climber on the fence. The rose is a purple one and I’ll move it to the container with a deeper base for its roots. Thanks so much for all the advice
I agree with Hogweed above. Something flat and sprawly - it could be a mini rock garden in a planter, or a shallow pot of annuals/bedding plants such as trailing petunias, bidens, bacopa, etc.
I got some bacopas today. Ive got them in other beds. The flowers are so pretty. And I moved some thing out of a bluey green pot yesterday to use here and add some colour. Thanks everyone
