Ok. So a fairly unanimous response to leave alone and allow to do their thing. Nice idea about the grass. It’s not too much of a pain to mow as there’s lawns nearby. Food for thought. Thank you
I've had a think overnight and suggest a standard holly in the middle between the two pittosporums. That would be evergreen so it would extend the season of interest and you could get a variegated one to match the pittosporums or a plain green one. It would look better if it was taller than the wall. It does looks a lovely border already close up and the others are right in that those fairly small plants are going to grow bigger. In which case your idea of a pot in the middle with one of your mock oranges in could be a temporary solution whilst the other two bushes are growing.
I think it looks lovely as it is,bearing in mind it's all going to grow. However, zooming in on your wall, (which is much nicer than mine!)😁. I would get rid of the Ivy,that's how my wall came to grief!! Ivy is a pig to get out of the cracks, and does untold damage, pretty though it looks!
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
I’m so sorry I haven’t replied. I couldn’t log back on the forum for some reason! I can’t fit anything else on to the edge of the beds so I’ve bought a hydrangea to match the two already in the bed (so there’s 3 to balance Jem all out). It’s in a pot so should it need to be moved I can do easily. Thanks again for all the advise
