How long for a Walnut tree to bear nuts

hi everyone

I have grown a Walnut tree from a nut I was given by a friend who collected it in the Czech Republic, the nut was huge. The tree is now six feet tall and is about seven or eight years old, I transplanted it from my old allotment to its permanent position about four years ago, so far it has shown no sign of producing any nuts. I have planted a walnut tree which is a specific variety call Broadview  which produced nuts (only two) two years after planting it. This one stands about five feet tall.

Any ideas how long I may need to wait.

Usually from seed a Walnut tree averages 10-15 years to attain flowering size and fruit production .
Beware though , they can get enormous .
'Broadview' is a cultivar of J.regia , usually grafted , and popular because of earlier fruit formation than the type species .
  • Crikey, at least another 2-7 years before any hope of nuts from the Czech nut. I am assuming its unlikely to produce big nuts like its parent as its from seed and therefore possibly cross pollinated with local wild nut trees.

Yep my Broadview is grafted, purchased from the Walnut Tree Company. I was incredibly impressed for it to produce nuts two years after planting.

Their size is not a problem as they are not planted in my garden. my hope is they will both produce nuts for the local community.
