Well said Fire, I would think sloshing petrol around was a health hazard equal to the one posed by the caterpillars!
  • Can I just clarify what happened please...........
Our neighbour was Spanish, saw the nest in our grapevine/honeysuckle,did not speak Engish, but was obviously horrified at the proximity of the nest, dashed off for petrol, which we had no idea he was getting.
In no way shape or form would we have condoned this mis use of petrol!  But the Spanish do what they do!! I'm afraid far worse things happen there!
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.

Sounds like my neighbours :D But at least he saw the danger. It used to be a reportable thing here and the authorities dealt with them, now they seem to be proliferating totally uncontrolled in pine forests not too far from us. I reported ours to the local town hall and they just shrugged.
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
