I grew some several years ago from RHS seed. They all disappeared from where I had planted them in sunny borders and instead seeded themselves into the dust between a wall and concrete path where the colony thrives in shade for most of the day and flowers all summer with no help or attention from me. You can only admire a plant that, wherever you put it, moves to exactly where it wants to be.
I took this photo today of my only plant. I think it wants deadheading... it's growing in the very opposite of moist and fertile, although we had a bit of rain recently, and accompanying plants barely visible in the photo are Iberis, Helianthemum, Lavender and Silene maritima...
Always seek advice from gardeners and nursery owners rather than RHS, which often assumes nobody works and is happy to spend 17 hours a day tending their gardens and plants.
Happily my plant has seeded itself in the gravel garden so much so I've pulled the seedlings out and put into trays for friends. They look a little sad for a few days and then are fine.
