Is Gardener's World a harmful Site?

I had put Gardener's World Forum, via Chrome, on my task bar and it has worked fine for the last month or so. Tonight there was a message from Chrome to say it had detected something malevolent on this Laptop and asked if I would permit Chrome to get rid of it. I ticked the yes box. It got rid of Gardner's World! Now I can't re-pin it to my task bar.

I use Internet Explorer for everything else but it wouldn't let me sign in on GW. @NoraGW and various forum members told me it was too out of date and I should change to Chrome.

Hosta, it wasn't about posting photos, that is working so long as the Internet signal is strong enough. Those paeonies were a good deal though! Saw them on Forkers.

I don't think it's just Chrome really.  Chrome is one of the browsers I use, I'm on it now, and the message I get is ''Your connection to this site is not fully secure''...''attackers might be able to see the image you're looking at on this site, and trick you by modifying them''....

so the warning there is, not to click on images, as they could be modified by attackers and thereby you would be downloading a malicious virus... I think that's what it means, and also not to send over any financial information, as the site is not encrypted it would appear... [no padlock sign]..

I have Malware protection against viruses, worms and so on and have no problems.   There is a small annual fee and regular updates as naughties evolve.   It does a daily scan but also vets stuff as I go so very little gets into the Spam box and I get warnings about anything that may be dodgy and the option to close, delete or check it but no shut down.

Some browsers and anti-virus software is becoming over protective in my opinion.  You'll get a message similar to the one above about not being fully secure and there seems to be no way of saying "OK, I accept the risk" and carrying on.  Drives me nuts as it happens on sites I've been using for years and it's actually more likely that it's a glitch in the brower / AV software than a genuine problem

I too have all of those things Obes and yet I woke up on Monday morning to "the blue screen of death"! I found a local chappie who said he'd do his best but neither of us held out any hope... He cleaned everything and removed several nasty viruses and we're back up and running. It's a miracle!!! The thing was dead!!!

Firefox (relatively recent version) simply points out that parts of the page (e.g. images) are not secure (by putting a warning icon in the address bar), but otherwise allows you to carry on. The initial connection is via a secure (HTTPS) connection.
