I acquired a dozen or so slow worms but they obviously didn't approve of the new accommodation and left, haven't seen them since.

I love slow worms too ... when I was at primary school I tried to stop some workmen in the school field killing one that they thought was an adder ... I failed ... but the head teacher was really cross when she found what they'd done.

We sometimes get grass snakes here ... we're close to the marshes ... I was lucky enough to photograph one in our little pond while he was lunching on a frog

These were some of the baby grass snakes that hatched out in my composter. Curious little things and not bothered by me taking pictures at all.

    and a happy slow worm.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Sorry should have said given the slowworms not acquired which doesn't sound nice, a householder had far too many in their garden so they gave some to me which I welcomed but not for long they left home, haven't seen them since.
