Are the peonies near to eachother.. perhaps something like this?
Bob Flowerdew puts his outdoor tomatoes under a sort of lean-to of clear plastic to keep the rain of them (on account of blight), but with the water dripping on their roots. Something like that could be rigged up. Plenty of space for air to circulate.. but keeping the worse of the weather and wind off.
now that's love for tomatoes! I could try something like that for a couple that are together, but most are placed randomly alone around the garden. For those ones I'll give the plastic cups idea a try from Muddle-Up, sounds a bit easier than rigging up umbrella's and tents! Although I will do that too I think - a peony experiment! I'll let you know which was most effective.
