Need help identifying red pupi (I think)

I was doing some weeding today, and found this red pupi looking thing.

are they benificial or not really? Can anyone identify what they might be?

    It's a moth chrysalis (pupae)  not sure which sort ... there are several that look like that.  The caterpillar is pupating and will emerge as a moth which will pollinate your plants  :)

    Creatures you find in the soil all have their part to play in the ecology of the garden and the world around us  :)

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    Aaaaw awesome, I found a few caterpillars too but didn’t get a picture of them. Is it possible to identify the moth from the caterpillar?
