I have found scabious difficult to germinate but have had *some* germination. This year 5 plants from an entire packet of scabious Perfection Blue from Chiltern Seeds. Last year, no germination from one type (not Perfection Blue) and seed company had to replace, none from that either.
I am cheered by your sorry story ju1i3 - it isn't just me that is having a problem with Scabious. It was easy enough to collect the seed - I will try the suggestions of the more knowledgeable gardeners. Do I soak the paper towel or just lightly dampen, assuming I put the towel in a tray how often do I need to water the seed - do I let the towel dry out before watering?
I couldn’t tell you about that, I like the natural approach really, they fall into soil, that’s where they grow, but see what happens and if it works for you then that’s fine, they won’t germinate now in the warmth though, they need a cold spell as do most wild flowers. Nothing to lose, try it.
