Hello! In March we put up an archway and planted 2 david austin roses-climbers gertrude jekyll and claire austin. Do you think we will see much growth/flowers in this first year please?

Yes I expect you will, but you should be aware they are better after 2 and 3 seasons, then you see what they're really all about..  they can often disappoint in the first year so be patient..

My OH gave me 3 Gertrude Jekyll roses, bare root, last year, mail order. One has done really well, another middling, what I expected, and the third is pathetic! So I think you will have to wait and see, but don't forget to feed and water them when needed.
