Salvias: Amistad vs Black and Blue/Bloom

Janie BJanie B Posts: 963
Since I (and others) seem to have lost some Amistad with the harsh winter we've had, does anyone have any experience of Black and Blue/Bloom? I've read that it may be more hardy than Amistad...

From limited personal experience, I would say Amistad was hardier.
That being said I appear to have lost a lot of Amistad this winter.

I grow salvia midnight blue, and it's fine through our -26C winters.

Hello, my black and boom has come back strongly this year after no protection during the winter with very low temperatures and snow, I also took cuttings just in case 😊

I cut my amistad down but there is absolutely no sign of anything green and nothing coming from the base - have I lost it?

Thanks for the replies... on another note, I dug up a couple of Salvia Love and Wishes today, having read that they were not terribly hardy, and found buds!!! I guess you just shouldn't believe all you read... and a(another) lesson not to be so IMPATIENT!

I don’t think Amistad is as hardy as black n blue, my b + b are up.
